From hospitality to retail: industries I know from the inside

Digital visibility is only half the job. The other half is knowing the industry. Someone who understands how a sector sells will market it better, and these seven fields I know from having carried the responsibility myself, not from reading case studies.

Hotel marketing (hospitality) Hotels need occupancy. Reach on its own does nothing for them. I know the whole repertoire, from the low-season campaign to the partner event, and how to spend a marketing budget so that bookings come out at the end.
Destination-Management Positioning a country in the Swiss market: I have worked with national tourism boards and DMCs and know how to turn a destination into a story that convinces travel agencies and end customers alike.
Tour operators Twice Head of Marketing in tour operating. I know how margins work, how seasonality bites, and how tricky the balance is between selling through travel agencies and selling direct to the customer.
Media & radio Radio taught me to win attention in seconds. The listeners gave us the reach, and with large events and newly built add-on products we turned that reach into serious extra revenue for the station itself.
Retail & SMEs In a smaller company every franc counts. So I build visibility that pays for itself: local search, Google Shopping, measurement that actually holds up. No jargon, no inflated concepts.
Sport & non-profit / associations VIP marketing in professional sport is relationship management at the highest level. It is the same craft that helps associations and non-profits keep their patrons and members for years rather than months.
Technical services Services that need explaining, with decision cycles running over months, need a different kind of marketing than consumer goods. You build trust, you show what you know, and you stay with a lead until it is ready. That is why I combine content, SEO and personal selling.

Experience you cannot google

I learned marketing from the ground up: in sales, on the phone, at trade fairs, in the radio studio and later on the management board. As Head of Marketing I ran budgets, teams and complete online presences for tour operators. As an entrepreneur I built visibility for Swiss SMEs, from the website through Google Ads to large events. All of that goes into every project. I understand algorithms, and I understand sales conversations, margins and customers. One is not much use without the other.

Why AI visibility matters now

A growing number of people do not google at all any more. They ask ChatGPT, Gemini or Claude directly: which product, which provider, what would you recommend. Gartner expects traditional search volume to drop by a quarter by 2026. Generative Engine Optimization makes sure your company gets named in those answers, through citable content, structured data and a clean SEO foundation underneath. Google itself puts it plainly: optimising for AI search is still SEO. I cover both sides, and that combination is still rare.
